Our mission is to build and nurture a lasting technology community in Namibia. Our current focus is NamibSIS, an offline-first school information system designed to keep institutions connected, productive, and running even when connectivity is limited.

Mbutosowa is a Namibian-owned company headquartered in Windhoek, Namibia. As recorded with BIPA, our registered activities span education, transport and logistics, catering, baking, information technology, digital and electronic services, web development, security, cleaning, and printing and design.
That range came from paying attention. Wherever we looked, the technology being sold to Namibian institutions was built somewhere else, for a different set of problems — it assumed reliable connectivity, and it rarely spoke to what people here actually needed day to day. The idea for an all-in-one, offline-first platform grew directly out of that gap: if the tools available weren't built with Namibia's realities in mind, we would build ones that were.
That thinking became NamibSIS — designed offline-first from day one, not as an afterthought for when the network drops.

Manfred founded Mbutosowa to close a gap he kept running into: Namibian schools and institutions being asked to adopt technology that wasn't built with their conditions in mind. That observation became the company's mission, and later, NamibSIS.

Most systems built for schools assume steady connectivity. In much of Namibia, that assumption doesn't hold — so NamibSIS was designed the other way around: keep working when the network doesn't.
